Mar Vista has three sober living homes in this guide, all for men. One, Modjeska House, is run by Design for Recovery, which operates this guide, and is labeled “Affiliated with this site.” The other two are independent: The Last House, for men 18 to 35, and The Nook Sober Living – The Marina. We checked both on their own websites.
What Mar Vista homes cost
None of the three publishes a monthly price, so ask each for the rent in writing and what it includes. For context, the few Westside homes that do publish prices list $1,760 to $6,000 a month, well above the county-wide typical of about $800.
Comparing the three
The homes differ mainly in who they serve and how they are run. The Last House focuses on young men; ask the others about the ages of their residents. For each, ask who manages the house, how drug testing works, the curfew, and what happens after a relapse, and visit before you commit.
Reaching the E Line from Mar Vista
The Metro E Line’s Expo/Bundy and Expo/Sepulveda stations are a short bus ride north of Mar Vista, with trains to Santa Monica and downtown Los Angeles.
