Updated October 27, 2026. Compiled by Sober Living California, a free directory run by Design for Recovery, from the Sober Living Network’s public member directory and homes’ own websites. Listings are free and we take no referral fees.
We started listing Orange County sober living homes in October 2026. So far we list 21 homes and operators in ten cities and communities: fourteen for men, five for women, one coed, and one operator that houses both men and women. Ten are members of the Sober Living Network, a coalition that says it inspects its member homes; the other eleven we checked on their own websites. California does not license sober living homes, so membership in a group like that is one of the few public signs of how a house is run.

What sober living costs in Orange County
Of the 10 homes that list a price, three list at $850–$900 a month, five at $1,200 and two at $3,000. We don’t know what the $3,000 rent includes; ask each home what the price covers. For comparison, the middle half of priced homes in our Los Angeles County listings run about $690 to $900, with a typical price near $800; see our cost guide.
Cities without a listed home yet
Many people also search for sober living in Newport Beach, Irvine and Laguna Beach, and none of those cities has a listed home here yet. Our Irvine and Laguna Beach pages point to the nearest listed homes. We add homes as we verify them, either through the Sober Living Network or on the home’s own website.
Choosing a home in Orange County
- Visit before paying a deposit, and meet the house manager.
- Ask how drug testing works, what happens after a relapse, and the guest and curfew rules.
- If you take prescribed medication, including medication for opioid use disorder, ask how the house handles it.
- Get the rent, deposit and refund terms in writing.
Our guide to checking a sober living home covers the rest. One warning: a home should never offer free rent, travel or cash for enrolling in a particular treatment program. That is patient brokering, and it is illegal in California.
Thinking about Los Angeles instead?
Some people from Orange County choose to move away from the area where they were using. Los Angeles County has far more listed homes; start with our Los Angeles page or the guide to relocating for sober living.
