Sober Living in the San Fernando Valley

A free guide to sober living homes in and around the San Fernando Valley: who each home serves, what it costs, and how to reach it directly.

About sober living in the San Fernando Valley

The San Fernando Valley and the Conejo area have 12 sober living homes in this guide, in nine neighborhoods from North Hollywood and Sherman Oaks to Reseda, Woodland Hills and Agoura Hills. Every one of them publishes a price. Listed rents run from $750 to $3,000 a month, with a typical (median) price of $975, above the county-wide typical of about $800.

Where the Valley’s sober living homes are

Eight of the 12 homes serve men, three are coed and one serves women. The highest listed price, $3,000 a month, is a coed home in Agoura Hills; a coed home under the same name in Woodland Hills lists $2,500.

Getting around the Valley without a car

The Valley is spread out, so check the commute before you choose a home. The Metro B Line subway runs from North Hollywood to Hollywood and downtown LA, and the G Line busway crosses the Valley east to west through Van Nuys, Reseda and Canoga Park toward Warner Center. Homes near those lines make it easier to reach work, meetings and outpatient care in the first months.

Choosing between Valley homes

With prices this close together in most of the Valley, the real differences are in how each house runs: who manages it, how often residents are tested, what the curfew is, and what happens after a relapse. Call two or three, ask for the rules in writing and visit. Our house rules guide explains what most homes expect, and the Los Angeles sober living page compares the Valley with the rest of the county.

Other areas of Los Angeles County: Westside, San Gabriel Valley, South Bay & Harbor and Long Beach & Southeast LA.
