Updated October 20, 2026. Sober Living California is a free guide run by Design for Recovery. We list homes from public directories and never charge for a listing.
There are sober living homes in Huntington Beach, but none are on our list yet. We only add homes that appear in the Sober Living Network’s public member directory or that we’ve checked on their own websites, and our Orange County list is just getting started.
Nearest listed homes
Men: Garden Grove has OC Alliance House ($850 a month). In Santa Ana, Doorway Living lists at $900 and the two Stay The Course houses at $3,000.
Women: Serenity Hill and Serenity House in Mission Viejo, each $1,200 a month.
Checking a beach-city home
Quality varies from house to house. Before you pay a deposit, visit the house, meet the manager, and ask how many people share each room, how drug testing works, what happens after a relapse and whether the home is a member of a group that inspects its houses. California does not license sober living homes, so those questions are your protection. Our checklist walks through them.
Watch for patient brokering
A home should never offer free rent, travel or cash in exchange for enrolling in a particular treatment program. That practice is illegal in California. If you’re offered a deal like that, walk away.

Not sure where to start? Call (424) 327-9081. This guide is run by Design for Recovery; we’ll help you compare options, including homes we don’t run. Listings are free, and we take no referral fees. Sober living is not treatment, and California does not license sober living homes. Our guides cover how to check a home, what sober living costs and how long people stay.
