You won’t find a Malibu sober living home in this directory yet. Malibu is better known for residential treatment programs, which are a different thing from sober living, so it helps to know which one you are looking for.
Treatment or sober living?
Residential treatment provides clinical care and is licensed by California’s Department of Health Care Services. A sober living home is a shared, substance-free residence with house rules and peer support; the state does not license it, and it does not provide treatment. Many people move into sober living after finishing a program.
Nearest listed sober living homes

- Down the coast: Advanced House in Venice (men, $4,500) and Marina House in Marina del Rey (women, $6,000).
The Westside page lists 15 homes from Santa Monica to Playa del Rey, including Herbert House in Culver City ($1,760).
Getting to and choosing a home from Malibu

Can I go from treatment in Malibu straight into sober living? Many people do. Ask your program about move-in timing and call homes before discharge; our guide on how to check a sober living home lists what to ask.
Can a Malibu home be listed? Yes, for free. See our listing policy.
Not sure where to start? Call (424) 327-9081. This guide is run by Design for Recovery; we’ll help you compare options, including homes we don’t run. Listings are free, and we take no referral fees. Sober living is not treatment, and California does not license sober living homes. Our guides cover how to check a home, what sober living costs and how long people stay.
