Sober Living in LA's Westside

A free guide to sober living homes in and around LA’s Westside: who each home serves, what it costs, and how to reach it directly.

About sober living in LA's Westside

The Westside has 15 sober living homes in this guide, spread across seven neighborhoods between Santa Monica and Playa del Rey. By listed prices, it is the most expensive area of Los Angeles County in this guide: the six Westside homes that publish a price list between $1,760 and $6,000 a month, with a typical (median) price of about $3,040, compared with about $800 across the county. Most of the other Westside homes ask you to call for rates.

Westside neighborhoods with sober living homes

Ten of the 15 homes serve men, three serve women and two are coed. If you are looking for a women’s or coed home, compare these with the county-wide women’s and coed pages, where prices are often much lower.

Is the Westside right for you?

People often choose the Westside to stay near a job, family or an outpatient program in Santa Monica, West LA or Culver City. The Metro E Line runs from downtown Santa Monica through Culver City to downtown Los Angeles, which helps if you won’t have a car. The trade-off is cost: if a Westside home is out of reach, the South Bay and the Valley have many homes listed under $1,000.

What to ask Westside homes

Because so few Westside homes publish prices, ask each one for the monthly rent in writing and what it includes: a private or shared room, meals, transportation, a live-in house manager or extra recovery services. Then ask about drug testing, curfew and what happens after a relapse, and visit before you sign. Our cost guide and how to check a sober living home explain what to look for.
